Malena (Best) Quinton was born in 1876 at Merasheen, one of 10 children of John Best and Hannah Stacey. She married William Stephen Quinton (1868-1927) of Manson Cove, Bonavista Bay, at Sound Island on November 21, 1891 (witnessed by James Best and Bertha Stacey and officiated by COE minister WB Ambrose). Malena died in 1959 at Arnold's Cove. She is the grandmother of well known musician Gordon Quinton.
